The idea for MetaTr@versal was inspired by Neil Trevett saying: "It will take a constellation of standards to acheive the Open Metaverse". Ben Erwin said "What we need is a MetaDavos" to bring together the leaders of the XR industry to make statements in support of portals being opened between platforms, like links on the web. This began the series.
A day earlier, Mark Zuckerberg had rebranded Facebook as Meta, and promised that the Metaverse would be interoperable. We were there, with out finger on the Pulse. We talked to the World Economic Forum, and they loved they idea, just not the name, so we changed it to MetaTr@versal.
